Programme Reps
What are they?
Programme reps are students who are elected by their peers to represent all students on their particular course.
Each year we have around 450 programme reps giving them the potential to be one of the most influential groups on the campus.
We really recommend that you take advantage of this great opportunity and get involved and become Programme Reps; it is a great opportunity to become part of a team, enhancing your CV whilst being at the forefront of educational developments at Loughborough. Becoming a Programme Rep leads to future opportunity’s, for example the chance to become a Programme President.
Programme reps are the main point of call for students who have problems, issue or ideas relating to their course. Programme reps voice these views at Staff Student Liaison Committee meetings which occur termly. At these meetings a number of academic staff meets with Programme Reps to help overcome problems students encounter over the academic year. In addition to this Programme Reps receive Department specific training and a Department specific resource pack which is given to assist them with their role throughout the year. On-going guidance and support is provided by the VP Education and Student Voice.

May 2012
The second Programme Rep Conference of this academic year was held on 9th May 2012 and we are pleased to say that 50 Programme Reps attended. The conference included two guest speakers from the University, Maurice Fitzgerald who gathered feedback on the Student Charter (slides here) and Ruth Stubbings from the Library who talked about academic skills support (slides here). During lunch stalls were hosted by the Library and the Student Voice advocates.
The Programme Reps were then split up into their departments and took part in group discussions led by the Programme Presidents. The Reps were asked for each topic what they would like us and the University to start, stop and continue doing. They covered various topics, the notes of which can be found below:

December 2010
The conference included a guest speaker from the University Maurice Fitzgerald who spoke about the Loughborough Students Charter, speeches from two NUS delegates and an Open Space Technology (OST) session from Andy Parsons the Union Director/Permanent Secretary of the Students Union. It was a very engaging conference where ideas from across the institution from numerous programme Reps were discussed, especially looking into improvements which could be made at departmental level in light of the recent changes to Higher Education due to the Browne Review.
