Programme Presidents

What are they?

Programme Presidents are a new position we have created this year to help improve academic representation at Loughborough.

There will be one Programme President in each School/Department making this an influential and high profile position. The role of Programme President is to oversee and support the team of Programme Reps in their department.  Along with this they will form a more direct link with the Students' Union and specifically the VP: Education. Programme Presidents will attend regular meetings with high level members of University staff who have a large role in the learning and teaching in each School.

Programme Presidents will get in-depth training from the Students' Union and will have an excellent opportunity to build up close relationships with influential University staff and play a key role in influencing change. This opportunity will give you as an individual not only the opportunity to influence change but also to develop yourself as an individual, helping put yourself one step ahead when it comes to getting a job.

Throughout the year Programme Presidents will attend:

Fortnightly meetings with the VP Education

6 meetings with a member of academic staff (the Associate Dean of Teaching)

Attend Staff Student Liaison Committees

Chair and set up meetings with Programme Reps in their department

All of this information is included in the opportunity profile. If you are interested in becoming a Programme President please go to 'How to become a Programme President.'
