EWB Loughborough
EWB or Engineers Without Borders is a brand new society for 2012.
And Officially “We are an international development organisation that removes barriers to development through engineering. Our programmes provide opportunities for young people to learn about technology's role in tackling poverty. Supported by the EWB-UK community, our members can work on projects around the globe."
Unofficially, we just want to get out the classroom and get our hands dirty with some real practical, hands on engineering experience around the world!
The society is split up into four main project areas,
Training
We will be holding talks, trips and training courses designed to raise awareness of development issues and give our members valuable hands on practical development skills.
Outreach
We will be running an outreach programme consisting of a series of interactive workshops, designed to inform and inspire young people about global development issues. Some of which will earn you some cash!
See the World
We can offer guidance and help getting you Volunteer Placements and Research Opportunities aboard, as well as giving you advice on the best way to acquire some cash to do so.
Activities and Events
We will also be holding a number of activities, events and trips. Including, scrapheap challenge style weekends away, Practical Action weekend festivals and outdoor adventure activities. Not to mention a fair few nights out.
