Held twice termly, the LSUCS LAN parties are the highlight of our calendar and not to be missed. The LAN parties are 45 hour gaming events, held in the main James France area, hosting up to 100 gamers. The LANs run from 9pm on the Friday to 6pm on the Sunday.
During the two days and a half days we run multiple tournaments such as Team Fortress 2 6v6 and Highlander, CounterStrike:Source Gungame, Left 4 Dead 2 Scavenger/Versus, League of Legends and creative Minecraft building. Prizes are offered for our main tournaments (as if taking part wasn't enough!).
There's a host of non-gaming orientated competitions to keep you entertained such as the traditional CompSoc style pub quiz and a Magic the Gathering Draft. We also have a tuck shop offering a range of hot and cold drinks and sweets, as well as the societies very own popcorn machine. There is also a society pizza order placed on the Saturday Night offering delivered pizza at an awesome discount.
We are also fortunate that the University's IT services provides us with two gigabit Internet connections for the LANs so that we can ensure no issue arise with Steam and other gaming services. However this is a privilege and is not to be abused - No torrenting or illegal downloading is allowed. Upon attending a LSUCS LAN party you have to comply with the guideline agreement as established by the current committee.
