About Societies

Do You Want to start a new society?
Have you ever tried to join a society, the realised it doesn't exist?
Have you got an interest that you don't feel the Students Union currently caters for?
Then try starting your own society. Anyone can start any society (unless it already exists or it's deemed too dangerous)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How do I start a new society??
If your interested in starting a new society, then the first think you must do is fill out the online application form here

Once the form is completed it will be sent to the Student Activities Officer who will get back to you with an answer within 10 days.

If your society gets the go ahead, then you will be called in for a meeting with the Student Activities Officer to talk through the proposal.

Once a membership fee has been decided your society will then be given an online trial. It will appear on the list of societies and membership will become available to purchase.

The trial will last approximately 2 weeks, and in this time your society must gain 20 members. This is the LSU minimum for any society. Once 20 members has been reached your society can then become officially affilated to LSU Societies Federation. You then need to elect a committee at the societies' general meeting.

It really is that easy!
