Welcome to the first newsletter of the year!
It’s been an eventful few months since I took on the reigns of Student Activities Officer, with plenty to report! I’ve loved every minute of it so far, so thanks to all those peeps who have helped me to settle in, I’m very much looking forward to the rest of the year! We’re hoping to bring out newsletters on a fairly regular basis, updating everyone on what’s happening in the section and helping to publicise anything you guys do!

In order to help raise the profile of the section a Student Activities Committee has been appointed! they are as follows:
Vice Chair - Helen Evans – Acts as a second opinion for the Student Activities Officer and helps with the general running of the section. Also takes minutes of the committee meetings, and also oversees societies fundraising and action contributions.
Events Coordinator – Catherine Courtney – Helps to organize events that publicise the section. Also acts as a helping hand along with the Student Activities Officer to societies wanting to organize large events
Media and Publicity Officer – Ed Williams – helps to raise the profile of the section through media and publicity. Responsible for designing and editing the newsletter.
This committee will be running to approx Feb/March time, when we will then do an election for the next Student Activities Committee, if your interested then watch this space!

| Membership numbers are looking healthier then ever! We are already approximately 500 up on membership from last year, recently breaking the 2000 mark. It’s great news for the societies and great news for the section! So far BALADS are in the lead with 135 members, with Hiking also breaking the 100 mark. A big shout out to Rec Running, who have only been official for approx 2 weeks but already have 75 members! |

| With the appointment of the new enthusiastic Events Coordinator Catherine, comes our first Societies event, The Societies Showcase taking place in room 1 on the 1st of December. A variety show made up of acts exclusively from LSU societies, hopefully attracting a diverse audience of society members, and non-society members so we can show campus exactly what we can do! I don’t think we’re going to struggle selling all the tickets! Info on how you can get tickets etc will follow shortly. |

This brings up the number of societies to 52! |

| Wow! This is fantastic our own newsletter well as its not surfaced in a while I just wanted to say a few words so here we go. Firstly for those who do not know me yet I am your Student Activities Administrator, looking after all the Clubs & Societies on the Health & Safety front & financially. I also work back to back with your Activities Officer (Brian) in what we hope provides you all with the platform of information through our very own Love/Hate relationship lol. So there we have it a few lines to say hi and say that any queries and questions you may have then most defiantly e-mail is the best way to contact me. Also those new Clubs & Societies I will be doing the up-coming Treasurer training for all you lucky Treasurers so watch this space and the societies Facebook page for information on this coming soon. |
