Loughborough Students’ Union (LSU) has done it once again!!! Earlier this evening [7th April] LSU won three awards at the annual National Union of Students Services Limited (NUSSL) convention awards evening in Liverpool.

LSU was awarded Overall Gold Winner of the Sound Environmental Impact Awards which recognises LSU’s dedication to reducing its environmental impact. Having won it for a third consecutive year, LSU is the only SU to date to ever pick up the ‘overall’ award. LSU also picked up the Ecologist Communications Challenge Award for LSU’s E&E website (www.lufbra.net/eande).

Union President David Goss said “This is absolutely fantastic achievement. I just can’t believe it and I want to thank everyone who has played a part in this. A special thanks must go to Chris Spencer [LSU’s Building Manager] and her team, Sarah Ettlinger [LSU’s Ethics and Environmental Officer], Andy Parsons [Permanent Secretary and General Manager] and Jon Bernstein [VP: Finance and Commercial Services] there are also many others who need to be thanked and I will make sure this happens over the next few days. Right now, I’m on top of the world and I just can’t believe it”.

LSU was once again acknowledged for its commitment to a high bar standard as it also won ‘Best Bar None’ for the Midlands region.

Jon Bernstein (Vice President Finance and Commercial Services) said “It’s a great achievement to have retained this award. A lot of time, effort and hard work has been put in by our Venue department and student staff, and I’m very grateful to them all. In particular I would like to thank Claire Delaney (Venue Manager) for her contribution in completing our submission for this award”.
