The Loughborough Students Union marketing department are currently looking for enthusiastic members to join their team for the 20010/2011 academic year.
We are looking to appoint:
- Marketing and Promotions Assistants (3 Vacancies)
To assist the Marketing & Commercial Media Manager to maintain Union publicity, undertake market research, take the Top Totty photos at Hey Ewe and FND; and to help out at the union during fresher’s events.
- A Media Sales and Marketing Assistant (1 Vacancy)
To assist the Media Sales Manager in recruiting advertising and sponsorship for Union publications and events as well as working alongside the Marketing and Promotions Assistants, to work on various marketing projects being undertaken by the department, including events, publicity, research and web.
The jobs are term-time only, loosely based around 5 – 9 hours per week, so fit in perfectly alongside studies and offers the perk that currently all Union Staff are eligible for free entry to Union events (subject to annual review) after one month’s service, and discounts on certain product lines in the Union Shops.

Probation 1st September 2010 – 12th October 2010
During which time you will be participating in the general work needed to achieve a successful Fresher’s period for the Union, details of which may be found in your Job Description. At the end of the Fresher’s period your performance will be assessed and on the basis of this assessment you will be confirmed in employment or not.
On successful completion of probation, you will be given regular tasks that you will be expected to completed irrespective of other commitments, though you are able to negotiate with other student staff to provide cover where appropriate, and substantial projects that follow the Marketing Departments Management Plan; the allocation and completion of these will be discussed with your line manager.
At the end of the academic year, any student staff wishing to resume their employment in the forthcoming year will be eligible to do so, providing they have notified their line manager in writing prior to the 1st March 2011.
The Students Union aims to provide work opportunities that lead to student staff gaining additional skills to enhance their employability post graduation. Each role gains specific experience, however, we have taken the CBI’s “Future Fit” analysis of what employers want and intend within each job description to show how skills are developed in each area.
