Hall Chair - Lisa Dover

Hey everyone! My name is Lisa and I have the amazing privilege of being your Hall Chair for the next year!
Being Hall Chair means that not only am I in charge of the Rigg Rut Committee, (chairing our meetings and making decisions with them on behalf of Hall), but I also work with various other members of the university to resolve any issues in Hall.
I work for every single one of you; whether it’s through regular meetings with the Subwardens and Imago or just by being there to talk to if ever you need some advice or a friendly ear.
It is also my responsibility to represent the Hall at a University level; whether it is at Hall Students Federation meetings or by dancing like a maniac at our socials to show everyone what Rigg Rut is made of!
You’ll easily spot me whipping my hair back and forth in a crazy fashion on the dance floor throughout our Freshers fortnight, so please come over and join in!
By choosing to stay in Rigg Rut, you are making the best decision you will ever make at Loughborough. My time at Loughborough would not be anywhere near as incredible as it has been if I hadn’t come to Rigg Rut. You can get involved with so many different things here, from Inter Mural Sport, to RAG (Raising and Giving), or Action (work in the community) to our legendary socials. Rigg Rut may be the second smallest hall on campus, but we have the best banter and largest personality by far.

So come and join the Rigg Rut family for what is sure to be the best year of your life!

Secretary/Vice Chair - Alice Wellings

Hello everyone! I’m Alice - I am 20, I’m from Chatham in Kent and I study English. I am Rigg-Rut’s Vice Chair and Secretary which means that I’m a partner in crime for Lisa, our Hall Chair. I can honestly say that choosing to come to Loughborough University was one of the best decisions of my life, as was picking Hazlerigg-Rutland hall to be my new home. I find it impossible to explain to my friends at home what life in our hall is like, as it seems to be something completely different to any other university. In Rigg-Rut you become part of a family and find yourself with 196 new best friends.

Choosing your hall is a hugely important decision and I can only promise you that you will have the time of your life here in Rigg-Rut. We have already sorted your Freshers Week and trust me, it’s insane! So have a fantastic summer and get excited for being welcomed to the Rigg-Rut family. I can’t wait to meet you all!

Treasurer - Daniel Smith

Firstly, congratulations on reaching Loughborough University, but more importantly the best, most tightly knit hall on campus. I'm Dan Smith, i'm from London , i'm 19 years old and study Accounting & Financial Management. I'm your treasurer, and my job is to basically manage what your money gets spent on. So when you pay your hall subs, or for your fresher tickets i am the person dealing with the transactions. I will ensure that you get the most out of your money. Anyway thats enough from me, i look forward to meeting you all, enjoy your summer and make sure your ready for an amazing freshers week!

Social Sec - Zak Evans

Hey Guys, my names Zak and I’ll be one of your social secs for your Fresher Year. My role on committee is to arrange all your nights out and ensure that your Fresher’s fortnight and year is the best of your life… which I guarantee you it will be having chosen to be in Riggy. From Boat Trips to Balls, Punch Parties to days in the courtyard… Rigg Rut do things in style. I’m currently studying Sport and Exercise Science, and have been personal training since I was 16… This year I’ve been playing Rugby League for the University and will give a go at any sport, no matter how poor I am at them.

Part of being social sec means I know how to have a good time and when im not on ‘sober duty’ ensuring all you lot get home okay, you’ll most likely find me running around naked, passed out in the corner or ATTEMPTING to shark. This year has been the best of my life, and I’ll do everything I can to make sure your first year in the best hall on campus is incredible.

Social Sec - Glen Willis

Glen here, i'm 20, from sunny Torquay and im one of your Social secs for Rigg rut. It's my job to make sure everyone in hall has a great time, whether its a classic chilled BBQ in the courtyard or turning the Granby into a lazer filled Ibiza Club for a ridiculous UV Punch Party i'll make sure that your time in Rigg Rut is as insane as mine has been, even if you can only remember half of it I'm a business student, a keen swimmer, and theres nothing i love more than a night out.

I hope your all ready for the best, most outrageous Freshers year ever... I definitely am!

Male Sports Sec - Sam Luscombe

 Helloo

Im Sam, your Male Sports Sec for next year. Im 20 from Leeds, Yorkshire, (apologies if your a Southern softie, me and Robyn are both Northern monkeys). Im studying Business Management so if your doing the same, give me a shout, and for the small price of a pint or two, i might help you out ;)

My job is to make sure that we do an absolute job on IMS next year, meaning organising training and selecting teams for everything such as Rugby and Football to Darts & Pool. If you play a sport, then theres a good chance you could represent Rigg-Rut!

IMS starts just after freshers, so gives you time to recover from what will be the best 2 weeks of your life.... FACT! Feel free to add me on facebook 'Sam Luscombe' (please dont look throught the tagged photos, there are some horrors), or otherwise il see you on the 27th September ;)

Much Love, Sam x

Female Sports Sec - Robyn Braithwaite

Heyy lovelys,

I'm Robyn, your Female Sports Sec, and my role is to get all the girls involved in IMS (intermural sport). I've played most of the IMS sports going, from Hockey and Tag Rugby to Golf and Water polo! You may find me pestering you loads and I'm sure you'll be spammed with my texts but it's all for the good of our hall!

I am 19 years old and come from Leeds, Yorkshire – and I'm very proud! I'm outgoing, motivated and have always been an all rounded character. My life has always been jam packed with sport at different levels. I've had horses from a young age, played hockey at club level and have socially played tennis, squash and cricket.

We really are one massive family, there's always a familiar face around hall! My experience here has been amazing and we're all looking forward to next year when the new freshlings arrive! Once you arrive in Hazlerigg Rutland Hall, you won't know what's hit you.

Lots of Female Sports loving, Robsy xxxx ?

Mixed Sports Sec - Ben Smith

My names Ben smith (Mingey,Biff), I am mixed sports sec for my beloved hall Rigg Rut! This position involves working closely (not too closely) with the guys and the girls of the hall in organising training and taking fixtures in all of our IMS mixed sports, these include; Tennis, volleyball, Rockitball, bowling and many more. I also assist the other two sports secs Sam and Robyn in the running of their fixtures and training.

As for myself, I am 20 years old; i am a laid back and passionate guy who loves my sport. I play tennis for the university and get stuck in with plenty of IMS sport! Fitness has always been a big part of my life which was part of the reason why I study sports science and geography (basically either running around or colouring in). I will give 100% in everything, which is what helped lead me to be a bronze medallist in this year’s live superstars final where i gave blood, sweat and tears to get there (literally). I also love my nights out with my friends and Rigg Rut family, although this usually ends up with me getting naked or hurling abuse at other halls upon my return. I will give anything a try, which is evident from some of the horrendous things I have done during hall events (ask me for more for details). If you have decided or are deciding to join Rigg Rut I can promise you, you will not be disappointed! You are in for the time of your life!

Lots of mixed up sports sec love Ben xxx

RAG Rep - Mary Mcpherson

Hello there all you lucky new freshers! My job on committee is as your RAG rep which means I help organise lots of fun things to raise money for charity and get as many people as possible involved with exciting and memorable events - read more about RAG on the ‘Take Part’ section of the website :)

Ok so I’m Mary (bit of a jellylegs), I’m 20 years old and from Colchester in Essex! I study social psychology here at Loughborough but most of the time you’ll find me either shaking a charity bucket at an unsuspecting shopper on a RAG raid or dancing like a maniac in fancy dress at a Rigg-Rut punch party! Now please prepare for the most crazy, fun, action-packed year of your life...

RAG Rep - Charlotte Wetton

Heya my name is Charlotte. I'm 19 and currently I'm studying social psychology here at the wonderful place that is Loughborough University! I didn't have to move far though because i'm originally from Nottingham . I am one of your RAG reps on the Rigg Rut committee so my job is to get all of you freshers involved in the amazing charity work that we do. Some other things I'm interested in are going out, which we do most nights in Rigg Rut, dancing, i'm also a cheerleader but I have to admit I'm a bit of a geek as well haha.

It's honestly been the best year and it's definitely because of Rigg Rut, and I know you will all agree when you arrive in September. We are a small hall but that's what makes us so great, i've made some great friends, our hall is actually like a family! And this is why we are going to make your freshers insane. See you soon Freshlings :)

Stash Rep - Matt Steene

Hello everyone!! My names Matt and I'm your STASH Rep. I'm 19 from Bath, Somerset (cider land), I study industrial design, which basically means designing products. I'm a pretty laid back, creative guy, who's always up for not doing a lot, so if you want to relax come see me.

Me being your stash rep means that I design and make all clothes related to Rigg-Rut. I run through a lot of designs and ideas to the committee, I then work with companies to produce clothes for our hall. Your Freshers 'T' will be design and produced by me, along with the help and input of the rest of committee.
