Study China is a government-funded three-week study programme in China. It’s a tremendous opportunity to learn about China, its language and its culture, and it’s open to undergraduates in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
You will have the opportunity to visit China, take an intensive course in Chinese language and be immersed in Chinese cultural and social activities.
All you have to pay for is your travel to China (flight, visa, insurance). However, Loughborough University will provide you with a bursary which will cover some of the costs.
There will be two programmes during summer 2010. This time both programmes will be in Shanghai but on different dates. One programme will be from 10/07/10 till 30/07/10 and the second will be 14/08/10 till 02/09/10.

The Summer Institute for Outstanding European Students
The Summer Institute for Outstanding European Students is a five-week cultural and academic programme for students held at two US universities (Drexel University and Bentley University) that focuses on concepts of leadership from American perspectives, civic engagement through academic coursework and participatory activities, and wide-ranging cross-cultural exchange. UK participants will be joined by participants from Denmark, France, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain and Sweden. Groups allocated to both US universities will come together in Washington DC at the end of their programmes for evaluation, de-briefing sessions and a farewell reception.
This year's institutes will take place from 11 July – 14 August 2010.
The Summer Institute will cover all participant costs. This includes round-trip airfare from the UK to the US (on a US airline), tuition and fees at the host university, accommodation and meals, a small daily allowance, health and accident insurance, a small book allowance and visa processing and participation in a number of Fulbright Scholar events. Participants will be housed in their host university’s residence halls and with an American host family during a portion of the programme. In addition, participants will visit cultural and historical sites, civic organisations, local institutions and other places of interest to learn more about their host city and its history. These visits will complement academic activities and showcase the roles that various organisations and institutions play in the community. Group travel outside of the university area to other cities and regions will show participants the diversity of American life and culture.
