Observations from Saturday:

Two good performances against Newark and London Scottish. As identified by the players in the huddle after the Scottish game we are setting the bar high and our desire to get up off the floor and defend with passion is a big statement about the group. The team spirit is strong and competition for places fierce. There is certainly a real buzz from the Vice Presidents about the forthcoming season after our toughest pre-season ever.
Relating the day to our core values, it is often the pre and post game off-field detail that reveals if we are living them. The times when no-one is really looking. I was delighted to see after the London Scottish game the players take ownership of the warm down on the field. As coaches we met to review the day immediately after the game. I returned to the changing room at the end and apart from 5 bottles and a bit of tape, that I put in the bin, the changing rooms were spotless. I very much hope that this was player driven as opposed to Haydn and Alex. If so well done!
