Now then,
It doesn’t seem like 4 years ago that I arrived in Loughborough as a wee fresher but as the saying goes, time flies when you are having fun! I’ve just graduated in July with a BSc in Physics – something which I’ve always enjoyed and continued to do so whilst at Loughborough!
We’re all here to get a degree but there’s one thing I will never regret doing whilst my stay at Loughborough – getting involved. I started my stay here in Loughborough as a member of Rutherford Hall and was elected as the Social Sec during my first term! The first step on the ladder some may say but I enjoyed organising all sorts of events for the Hall, especially my own Fresher’s Week!
‘Unbelievable’ doesn’t even begin to describe the experiences that being on a Hall Committee offered and I can’t recommend enough for people to take advantage of this opportunity. Over the next two years I remained in Rutherford Hall make some amazing mates and loved every minute of it. I was elected the Chair of the Social Secretaries and then to the Vice-President of the Hall Students Federation – each opening so many doors regarding opportunities. I guess I couldn’t get enough of it!
So here I am today, the President of the Students’ Union. If someone told me 4 years ago that this is where I be, i would laugh and ask them for whatever they were drinking. But it goes to show the power of the ‘Loughborough Experience’ and that whenever I meet a new fresher I will continually stress that there are two words which need tattooing in their minds – GET INVOLVED! So whenever you see me, come have a chat and I can help you with any queries you may have.
And to sum up… If you could condense your life down to half a day, about half an hour would be spent at University. And what a ridiculously amazing half an hour that would be.
Bobby x
