   GTUK Scottish Championships

For many members, the Scottish Championships is as much about the road trip up to Scotland as the tournament its self. Usually the Scottish championship is a trip for only the clubs most hardcore members. However, this year saw massive club interest with Loughborough hosting an impressive contingent of both colour belt and black belt members ready and willing to take the fight (and bant) to Glasgow.

                      David Village

The tournament started as it usually does with the Loughborough colour belts sweeping the medals for both patterns and sparing. Well done to David Village and Suzanne Gloyne who picked up gold medals, Tansen Panesar and Jenifer Wheeler who all picked up silvers and Scot Hickinbottom taking two bronze medals.
The colour belt success was also reflected by the black belts Francis Robson and Will Dewey also securing gold medals, a whole load of silvers from Steph LeungRichard Galloway and Alison Webb and bronze medals from Graham Peacock and Chris Brown.
Congratulations are due for all those who took part in the team event which saw England (mostly comprised of Loughborough students) come a very close second to Scotland.

While the final tournament scores still remain unknown. It is clear that Loughborough University made a serious challenge for the title… as well as OWNING the dance floor at the tournament after party!
