Lifesaving

WELCOME TO THE LOUGHBOROUGH STUDENTS LIFESAVING CLUB WEBSITE!

Most Improved Club of the Year 09/10!!!

What is Lifesaving Sport?

Lifesaving Sport was initially designed to encourage budding lifeguards to develop and maintain the essential physical and mental skills needed to save lives in the aquatic environment. It has developed into a national and international competitive swimming discipline. Lifesaving competitions consist of a variety of swimming and first aid skills to further develop and demonstrate lifesaving skills, fitness and motivation at a competitive level.

“Lifesaving sport is possibly the most demanding multi-discipline sport that exists in the world today. Connected so closely with the noble act of lifesaving, speed lifesaving offers enjoyment, challenges and learning to all ages and abilities” - RLSS 2006

Lifesaving at LSLC

Loughborough Students Lifesaving Club is a friendly and mixed ability club, and we have a strong social, yet productive work ethic. If you are passionate about swimming or lifesaving, and are at Loughborough to experience the good times, make friends you will know for life, and succeed, you should definitely consider joining LSLC.

Lifesaving at LSLC will make your Lufbra experience unforgettable!  Members have the possibility to attend all inter-university lifesaving competitions, where it is guaranteed that you will have a blast and make new friends from all over the country. The competitions include a simulated incident-part, which test your ability to function during an emergency situation, whereas the speeds events test your swimming ability and lifesaving techniques.

We also attend major national and international speeds lifesaving competitions, the main ones being the World/European Lifesaving competitions, RLSS Speeds Lifesaving Nationals, the SLSGB Nationals, as well as the Welsh Nationals. We have performed extremely well nationally, obtaining national records and medals in numerous events, and this year are reigning champions!!!!!! LSLC is one of the top lifesaving clubs in a country, so join us and make your Lufbra experience truly special!
