New Union Development and New Website

Union Re-Development

As I'm sure you've probably seen from the Re-development Blog Updates things are well and truly happening! The piazza bar has disappeared, as has the cafe and the cash machine and so already it is looking so much bigger! What we are trying to achieve with this re-development is an improvement to what we offer during the day! A more open-plan seating area and a more accessible executive and reception.And let's not forget the brand new Malaysian restaurant that's moving in Jom Makam! I am so excited about that! The food looks amazing!

Of course there's changes happening upstairs too. With reception moving downstairs to the front of the union, AU will be moving where reception currently stands. RAG will be moving to the old AU office, and Action will be moving down the corridor to the old RAG office! And of course, we've had a MASSIVE tidy up of the main exec office so it looks fantastic in there too. Please come up and visit us when you come back!

New Website

Finally! The website has had a much needed makeover! I for one want to thank the marketing department for really listening to all the criticisms and comments of the old website and taking them all into consideration. I'm still getting used to it, but it's much easier to navigate and far less on the front page so it looks so much cleaner. We are still in the process of building it though, so if you see any mistakes, or something you think we might have missed, do let us know! That would be really helpful! I now think we have a union website that really reflects the fantastic opportunities we have here in the union.

New Executive Profiles

One of our strategies as an executive is our want to be as transparent and as accessible as possible to our student body. WE know how hard we're working, and WE know what we offer here but unless YOU know that, then what's the point? We want you to know exactly what we're doing for YOU.

We now have a video blog on the main page, which we routinely update. Our exec reports are now much more accessible and readbale! And if you can't be bothered to read all of it, we also take the time to summarise what we say in them, as well as a quick video blog too!

Not only that but as your president I have started HOPmails; a blog that goes into more details into the issues student may want to find out more about! Please do leave a comment if you'd like  HOPmail about something I might have missed and I will take the time to talk about thhe topic in more detail and, most importantly, you can tell ME what you think. Afterall when I represent you all in university meetings I want to be representing your real opinions so please take the time to tell me them!

You might have noticed as well that nearly all of your exec now have TWITTER. That means we are CONSTANTLY updating you on what we're upto on a daily basis, so make sure you follow us on twitter and check up on us!
