President Lufbra
First of all, it is with great pleasure I introduce myself as your new union president! Now would be a nice opportunity to say thank you once again for voting for us!
HOPmail is a quick and easy way for you to find out what your exec have been up to. If you do have any questions, please send me a “Hey Hoppo”, contact a specific exec member, have a look on the website or come along to union council! Remember, you can always find us upstairs in the union building! There are loads of different avenues to get your voice heard, so make sure you do!

Handover started on the 19th of July and we’ve been extremely busy trying to learn the ropes! This has involved two full weeks of group sessions, training and one-to-one time with our predecessors and absorbing an enormous amount of information.
VP Democracy: Jimbo has been working hard this week on the redesign of lufbra.net, and I have to say it’s a vast improvement! Watch out for the release in early August!
VP Finance: Tricky has been reviewing how much money has been spent this year, and learning the complexities behind putting on a Hey ewe and FND every week. Meanwhile, Halliday is tucked away revising every little detail about all 56 of her societies!
AU and SU President: We’ve also been having some fun! Ewan got to go the BUCS awards and watch Loughborough win for the 32nd time in a row. Santander invited union presidents across the country to attend the Silverstone Gran Prix. This also gave me an opportunity to meet other union presidents, some coming all the way from Glasgow, and ask loads of questions! There are some things we do the best and others we could improve on, so it was great to get their insight.
RAG: Maddy attended “Tough Guy-Nettle Warrior” at the weekend, where both our competitors did really well! She’s also been writing the new RAGmag and meeting with various charities. She has a coffee machine in the RAG office so I tend to find a reason to go in there!
Rambo has been getting to know the Volunteer Development Officer, one of the full time members of staff in the union, Darren Batey and planning what he wants to achieve in this coming year. Meanwhile, Tas has been working on developing Erasmus and promoting Life Membership. If you’re interested in studying abroad, she’s the girl to ask! Sam has been organising welfare opportunities, such as Chlamydia testing in freshers week and The Mental Health Campaign.
Action: Adam has been working on a restructure of the action office, as well as on the community student handbook.
Media: Croucher has been filming the Freshers DVD, getting us all to film our introductions for our sections. I’ve asked him to lower my voice on it, but he won’t.
