This is the place where you can find out exactly how to get involved with the LGBTA.

It boils down to socials, meetings and drop ins. Not many do all 3 and a lot just do 1 of these things so don’t feel that you are obliged to do anything as an associate of the LGBT. It’s worth noting that you don't have to be 'out' to join us and you are a member by association so we never take your name at all unless you want to pay in advance for a social like Alton Towers or Laser Quest or whatever =)

The drop-in sessions are a great way to break the ice with the LGBTA by sitting down with a committee member and having a quick chat. They can be whatever you want them to be and are always completely confidential. We understand how utterly impossibly difficult and complicated it can seem to pluck up the courage to come along if you’ve never been before. If this is you then know that you are certainly not alone and a lot of people feel or have felt the same at Loughborough. Please try your best to pluck up the courage to email llgbta@lufbra.net if you are having a tough time deciding whether to come. If you do decide to come you can find our office upstairs in the students union at the drop-in times given on the home page. Don’t worry, it’s quite secluded and no one will batter an eye lid (in fact we often get people coming in asking questions about the Athletics Union =P so try not to be too afraid of being ‘outed’). Specifically you go up the main set of stairs in the plaza of the students union, (by the little bottle bar), turn left at the top of the stairs, go through the double doors (passing the students union reception on your right), follow the corridor round the corner to the left and you will see some offices (of which one is ours) to your right beyond some sofas.

The meetings are held in one of the students union meeting rooms. You can find these by going to the top of the stairs and turning right, following the balcony round to the right where you come across some double doors. Go through the doors to your right into the corridor that leads to the Fusion and the cloak room. We will be in one of the meeting rooms in that corridor. If you are daunted by this then don’t worry, just email llgbta@lufbra.net and one of us will me more than happy to meet you downstairs by the main entrance and walk with you.

In summary, if you are reading this there is a good chance the LGBTA is worth checking out. Some people are perfectly comfortable with their sexuality, and if this is you have no excuse not to come along =) It may be that you are unsure of your sexuality and might not turn out to be LGBT at all but don’t worry, we do understand that so please find it within you to email and/or come a long and say hi. If nothing else you are likely to make some nice friends =)
